Does your spiritual life feel dry and empty?
The daily grind of life has a way of dulling our spiritual senses. Instead of longing for deeper intimacy with Christ, we move from day to day and week to week, robbed of the joy and satisfaction that are available through a close relationship with the Lord.
What people need today is to have an encounter with God. The word “encounter” conveys the idea of an unforeseen meeting. When Isaiah went to the temple one day, he had no idea that something life-changing was about to happen.
I believe those moments still happen today. The Bible describes God having unexpected and life-changing interactions with everyday people. Since the Lord never changes, He continues to deal with humanity in powerful, unanticipated ways.
This kind of experience isn’t reserved only for pastors or biblical figures. God wants to communicate intimately with all of His children. But sometimes, we’re too busy and preoccupied to hear Him.
If you feel disconnected and distant from the Lord, it’s not necessary to stay that way. What we need is a call to action. When the Lord appeared to Isaiah, He asked, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” (Isa. 6:8). He had a job for Isaiah, just as He has assignments for each of us.
But sometimes, in order to move us in the right direction, God has to interrupt our lives with an overwhelming sense of His presence. That’s what happened to Moses when he was tending sheep in the desert. Suddenly the Lord appeared to him in a burning bush and turned his life in an entirely different direction.
How about you? Do you long to have an encounter with God? Begin today to cultivate an intimate relationship with Him. He loves you and wants you to be aware of His presence, but you must make yourself available to be with Him.
Through that relationship, Jesus has promised you a gift that can empower you to have more depth to your relationship and a new dimension of God’s power to live your life. That gift is the Holy Spirit, and He is available today to help you in ways you may have never dreamed possible!
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth; it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper (Holy Spirit) will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you” (John 16:7, 13-14).
The Spirit of God would become the conduit that links us to the power of almighty God. Life without the Spirit of God is merely man’s best efforts. Please don’t settle for your best efforts when God has already said “yes” in the Spirit to do “abundantly more than we could ask or think according to the power that is at work within us” (Eph. 3:20).
Today, the Holy Spirit with His life-changing power is available to each of us. Yet tragically, multitudes of Christians go through life without ever experiencing this abundant and fruitful life.
I have seen when the Holy Spirit is given freedom to minister. People are completely healed — emotionally, spiritually and physically. Yokes are broken, eyes are opened, hearts are changed, and lives are transformed.
I challenge you to develop a more intimate relationship with God and to accept the gift of the Holy Spirit. Don’t be satisfied with the current level of your relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The power of the Spirit will enable you to be used by God to make an awesome impact in the world and your own life. Encounter God in a new way today.
